Authors Simon Sebag-Montefiore, Shalom Auslander and Howard Jacobson are headlining Jewish Book Week this year, taking place from 25th February to 5th March 2023 both online and in-person at Kings Place, London.
This year’s festival is being dubbed the most accessible yet, with £5 tickets available for under-30s and the unwaged, 20 free events and an online-only series. All in-person events will also be added to Jewish Book Week’s digital video archive later in the year.
Among those appearing at several special performances during the festival will be actors Juliet Stevenson, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Allan Corduner and Janet Suzman, singer Mark Glanville and cellist Gemma Rosefield. There will also be a night of poetry and spoken word: “Lost, Loved & Left” will feature Jeremy Robson, Rachel Long, Oakley Flanagan, Sarah Blake and Rishi Dastidar.
Sebag-Montefiore will also be in attendance, while other history-focused events include Orlando Figes on Russia and Caroline Moorehead on Edda Mussolini. In current affairs, Bill Browder will reveal how his battle to expose Russian corruption made him No 1 on both the New York Times chart and Putin’s enemy list. There will also be debates on American antisemitism and the future of Ukraine, with speakers including Malcolm Rifkind and Jewish Chronicle editor Jake Wallis Simons.
Jewish Book Week director Claudia Rubenstein said: “After marking our 71st anniversary last year we are excited to be back with our biggest hybrid festival yet; we truly believe there is something for everyone in our wide-ranging programme, whatever your interests, personal situation or geographical location.”
