Profile imprint Serpent's Tail has acquired a "powerful" new historical novel by Beatrice Hitchman.
Associate publisher Rebecca Gray and assistant editor Leonora Craig Cohen acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Laura Macdougall at United Agents. All of You Every Single One will be published in summer 2021.
Hitchman's previous novel Petite Mort, published by Serpent's Tail in 2013, was shortlisted for the Polari Prize and the Historical Writers’ Association Debut Novel Prize.
All of You Every Single One is a love story which spans from 1911 to 1950. The book follows Julie, who after knowing Eve for three weeks, leaves her husband to start a new life in Vienna.
Gray and Cohen said: "All of You Every Single One transported us to the Vienna of Sigmund Freud and Stefan Zweig but the way Bea tells Eve and Julia’s story is absolutely modern. The novel is original, atmospheric and deeply moving – we are thrilled to be publishing a second book with Beatrice."
Hichman added: "I’m so delighted to be coming home to Serpent’s Tail, whom I know feel as passionately as I do about this story being told. Rebecca and Leonora are a really perfect editorial team, and I feel very lucky to be able to call on their expertise, generosity and sensibility as we move forward together."
