Actor Tanya Reynolds, known for her leading role as Lily in Netflix’s “Sex Education”, will narrate the audiobook version of Jessica Moor’s new novel Young Women (Manilla Press).
Young Women is the “utterly engrossing” second novel from Moor, who was named an Observer debut novelist of the year in 2020 for Keeper (Viking).
Moor said: “I’m so thrilled that an actor of Tanya’s range and intelligence is bringing Young Women to life. Listening to her reading in Emily’s voice was electrifying, and I can’t wait for this beautiful recording to be shared with audio lovers.”
The novel, out on 26th May, follows the story of Emily, whose meeting with enigmatic and dazzling actress Tamsin changes her life. Drawn into Tamsin’s world of Soho living, boozy dinners and cocktails at impossibly expensive bars, Emily’s life shifts from black and white to technicolour and the two women become inseparable.
But when a bombshell news article about a decades-old sexual assault case breaks, the synopsis continues, Emily realises that Tamsin has been hiding a secret about her own past – a secret that threatens to unravel everything.
Laura Marlow, editor of audio at Bonnier Books UK, said the audio team knew Reynolds would be the perfect fit for the novel and to see her in action was “utterly mesmerising”.
“Tanya’s performance is truly compelling – not only in the way she evokes the intoxicating and alluring Soho setting, enticing listeners into Tamsin’s world, but also in the way she so effortlessly captures the nuances of the complex friendship between Tamsin and Emily at the heart of the novel,” she said.
