The ninth China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (CCBF) has been postponed for the fourth time due to the coronavirus and changed venue.
Organisers apologised for the inconvenience and said despite “best efforts” to carry on as scheduled, they had to change the dates and venue “to better coordinate with epidemic control measures in Shanghai”. The Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Centre, where is was due to be held, is still unavailable, they said.
"The organising team will do all it can to address subsequent issues arising from the recent development to provide quality service and to ensure the interests, and meet the needs, of our exhibitors and visitors. This will lay a more solid foundation for building the brand and influence of CCBF, a grand cultural and artistic event in Shanghai” organisers said.
Originally meant to take place in November 2021, the fair was first pushed back to run from 20th to 22nd March this year, then postponed for 22nd to 24th July and then rescheduled to run from 18th to 20th November. It will now take place from 2nd to 4th December at the West Bund Art Centre.
West Bund Art Centre is located in the core of the “West Bund Cultural Corridor” in the waterfront area of Xuhui District, Shanghai.
Organisers added: “This is a place where writers of children’s books, book producers, fans of books, and scholars from all over the world will assemble. Here, they can brainstorm and think up more excellent and spectacular content for children’s books. With a wider audience at the West Bund of Shanghai, this fair aims to ultimately influence thousands of children.”
