Bloomsbury author Samantha Shannon is touring the UK as part of an international campaign promoting her latest novel A Day of Fallen Night.
Launching on 24th February at Waterstones Piccadilly, London, the author will appear in conversation with writer Saara El-Arifi. The event will feature themed manicures, an interactive photobooth and temporary dragon tattoos. Other British bookshops featuring on the tour include Falmouth Bookseller, Toppings in St Andrews and City Books in Brighton, among others.
Each bookstore will offer a book and ticket or general admission option, and all book and ticket buyers will receive an exclusive dragon pin badge. Tickets for UK events will go on sale on 11th November at midnight. The tour will continue across the US and Canada in spring 2023.
A Day of Fallen Night is a return to the world of Shannon’s first book in the Roots of Chaos series, The Priory of the Orange Tree, which débuted on the New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller lists. It has now sold more than 450,000 copies across all editions, selling over 80,000 copies in 2021 alone, two years on from publication, according to the publisher. Her work has been translated into 26 languages.
The new year marks the 10-year anniversary of The Bone Season, which was acquired when Shannon was just 20. Bloomsbury will be publish a new edition of The Bone Season in summer 2023.
“I couldn’t be more excited to share the launch of A Day of Fallen Night with readers across the UK,” Shannon said. “I’m also really looking forward to returning to the US and Canada for the first time in six years.”
