Short Books will publish a "trailblazing" book about glucose and its effects from biologist and entrepreneur Jessie Inchauspe, founder of the Glucose Goddess Instagram account.
Short Books acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Susanna Lea Associates. The currently untitled book will be published in trade paperback in spring 2022.
Inchauspe has a masters degree in biochemistry from Georgetown University. In 2018, she began testing the effects of food on her own glucose levels and in an effort to share the results she was discovering, started her Instagram account, which now has over 40,000 followers.
Her book is billed a "fascinating, fun, down-to-earth guide" to help readers understand glucose and why the molecule is at the centre-point of many modern health issues, and how managing it can help regain control of our bodies, and improve our health in so many ways – whether it be our weight, sleep, mood, brain function, hormonal and sexual health or gut.
Nicolson said: "Short Books is very excited to be publishing Jessie's hugely timely book. She is a brilliantly dynamic and compelling writer who offers a unique and passionate voice in health. Combining her own experiences and her learnings as a scientist, she lifts the lid on how food impacts our biology, and shows us how to use this knowledge to be the healthiest possible version of ourselves."
Inchauspe commented: "I'm thrilled and honored to be working with the team at Short Books — they have such a stellar track record in the space of health and wellness. I know that together we will get this information into the hands of everyone who needs it."
