Vertebrate children’s imprint Shrine Bell has snapped up Lily Dyu’s debut children's book.
Managing director Jon Barton secured world English language rights for Fantastic Female Adventurers – Truly Amazing Tales of Women Exploring the World for ages eight and up.
The book features tales from 14 women who have explored the world including round-the-world cyclist Jin Jeong, ocean swimmer Beth French, mountain runner Mira Rai, and Britain’s first astronaut Helen Sharman. Fantastic Female Adventurers is illustrated by artist and adventurer Chellie Carroll and will be published on 3rd October.
Dyu said: “I have a passion for the outdoors and wild places, and love to express this in my writing. Fantastic Female Adventurers illuminates the stories of other women who have and are exploring the world today and will hopefully inspire boys and girls of all ages and show them that anyone can achieve incredible things.
“Teaming up with Shrine Bell was perfect, especially at a time when there is a call for more books by and about people, and women in particular, from a range of different backgrounds.”
Dyu has written widely for magazines and journals and is the author of Fastpacking: Multi-Day Running Adventures and guidebook Brecon Beacons Trail Running (Vertebrate).
