Simon & Schuster has announced the appointment of Charlotte Osment as commissioning editor for crime and thriller, adult fiction in a newly created role as part of the company’s expansion plans. She joins from her role as editor at Century, an imprint of Penguin Random House.
Reporting to deputy publishing director for adult fiction Katherine Armstrong, Osment will start her new role on 22nd October. At Century, Osment worked closely with publisher Selina Walker on authors such as Lisa Jewell and Anthony Horowitz, and was instrumental in their acquisition of Ruth Mancini’s Sunday Times bestseller The Woman on the Ledge.
Armstrong said: “I am absolutely delighted to be welcoming Charlotte to Simon & Schuster UK and particularly to the crime and thriller team. She joins Georgina Leighton [Editor] and me on our stellar list and I look forward to working with her as we continue to grow and to welcoming the talent that she will acquire for the list. Charlotte particularly impressed me with her commercial acumen and passion for and knowledge of the genre, and I am sure that she will be a brilliant and valuable addition to the team.”
Osment said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Century and I am proud to have worked on such a strong and successful list. I will miss my authors and colleagues tremendously, but I am looking forward to this next step in my career and to be joining Katherine and the Simon & Schuster UK team at such an exciting time of growth for their crime & thriller list.”
