Simon & Schuster UK has struck a deal for two new Robert Hunter thrillers by author Chris Carter. The new novels will be the 12th and 13th in the series.
Editorial director Anne Perry acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Darley Anderson at the Darley Anderson Literary Agency. The first of the books will be published in 2022.
Carter's Robert Hunter novels draw on his knowledge of criminal forensic pathology and his experience as a criminal psychologist. Hunting Evil and The Caller were both Sunday Times number one bestsellers in hardback.
Perry said: "Chris Carter is someone truly special in the world of thrillers—his writing is informed by his extraordinary life and his work, but it’s his ability to combine his knowledge with breath-taking, edge-of-your-seat narratives that really make him stand out in the field."
Carter commented: "I am absolutely delighted to be signing a brand new two-book deal with S&S for the Hunter series. I still remember that first meeting I had at their offices in central London, 12 years ago, after my agent told me that they had shown interest in my first manuscript. I remember how nervous I was. That day, S&S decided to take a gamble on me, a total rookie writer, and since then they have been the most amazing publishing house any author could hope for."
