Simon Squibb, the founder of the HelpBnk platform for entrepreneurs, is inviting young people to pitch their business ideas as part of the cover reveal celebrations for his first book What’s Your Dream? (Century) on Thursday 18th July 2024. The social media content creator, entrepreneur and angel investor will invite five aspiring entrepreneurs aged 14 to 18 to pitch their business ideas to him at the Stairwell of Dreams in Twickenham, where he will also give them business advice.
In his social media videos, Squibb interviews members of the public about their dreams and invests in them on the spot. He made headlines last year after purchasing a derelict staircase in Twickenham, which he has since transformed into a "dream factory" where people can pitch their ideas directly to him via a video doorbell. The staircase is also where his free business help platform, HelpBnk, is headquartered.
On Thursday, Squibb will also reunite with ten of the aspiring entrepreneurs he has invested in, who will share updates on their progress—including aspiring artist Aengus Boyle, who will unveil a mural of the cover of Squibbs’ book, published by Penguin Random House in January 2025. In the book, the author "shares the hard-won life lessons from his years in the business world" and guides people to discover their own ambitions.
"When I struggled at 15, I always promised that the day I could help someone, I would, and it’s such a privilege to get to do that today," Squibb said. "So many people dream of starting their own business but have no idea where to start, are afraid to fail and have had next to no accessible support or stability from recent government. But seeing these ambitious young people here today, optimistic for what the future holds and invested in making it happen for themselves is incredible."
