Hodder & Stoughton is publishing an updated edition of Sir Ranulph Fiennes’s autobiography, Mad, Bad & Dangerous to Know, in celebration of the British explorer's 75th birthday next March.
The 2008-published book, which has sold 204,766 copies for £2.1m across all editions through Nielsen, will be given a new lease of life with the addition of 10,000 words from Sir Ranulph, intended to to bring his story bang up to date.
The new edition includes coverage of "more mountains climbed and even more extraordinary and risky adventures", according to Hodder, and features a special preface from fellow adventurer Bear Grylls.
To mark the occasion, tour promotors Fane Productions have organised an event at London’s Royal Festival Hall on 6th March 2019 when Sir Ranulph will be in conversation with Grylls. Booking for the event opens today (23rd November).
Hodder Non-Fiction publisher Rupert Lancaster said: "Publishing Ran’s books is one of the highlights of my publishing career. National treasure, bestselling author, world’s greatest explorer and the man who has raised so many millions for charity, we’re delighted to be celebrating his 75th birthday with this updated life story."
The new edition will be released on 7th March 2019 as a £20 hardback.
