Rebellion Publishing imprint Solaris has landed a “tour de force” epic from US author and comic book writer Chuck Wendig.
Commissioning editor Michael Rowley acquired UK rights from Rachel Kind of Penguin Random House USA for Wanderers. The book will be published on 11th July.
Wanderers has already been optioned for TV by QC Entertainment, the producers behind “Get Out” and "BlacKkKlansman".
Its synopsis states: “Shana wakes up one morning to discover her little sister in the grip of a strange malady. She appears to be sleepwalking. She cannot talk and cannot be woken up. And she is heading with inexorable determination to a destination that only she knows. But Shana and her sister are not alone. Soon they are joined by a flock of sleepwalkers from across America, on the same mysterious journey. And, like Shana, there are other 'shepherds' who follow the flock to protect their friends and family on the long dark road ahead. For on their journey, they will discover an America convulsed with terror and violence, where this apocalyptic epidemic proves less dangerous than the fear of it.”
Rowley said: “As an editor you look for books that thrill and amaze, while making you think about the world around you. Chuck Wendig’s Wanderers does both, and more. Epic, bold, brutal, insightful and compelling are all words being used to describe this break-out book, and they are just some that apply. I’m overjoyed that Rebellion is playing a part in this story.”
Wendig is the author of a string of books and series including Star Wars: Aftermath (Arrow) and co-writer of Emmy-nominated digital narrative “Collapsus”.
He said: “I’m so thrilled to be with Rebellion, bringing the epic journey of Wanderers to the UK.”
