Sounded.com, the publishing industry’s "ethical voice replication" and audiobook publishing company, has used "voice replication" technology to publish Catherine Lanigan’s lifetime works—more than 50 titles—into audiobooks in just eight weeks.
Lanigan is best known for her novelisations of the films Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile, and has an extensive catalogue spanning romance, mystery and non-fiction. She recently reclaimed the rights to her catalogue of literary works and has partnered with Sounded.com to bring her works to life.
Sounded.com has produced an exclusive licensed voice replica of Lanigan to narrate her own stories and acquired world audiobook and translated audio rights for all her titles. The company’s proprietary TrueVoice™ technology means that what would have taken eight to 12 weeks per-book to produce only took eight weeks for the entire catalogue. The technology utilised a series of original recordings to replicate her voice with "exceptional accuracy".
The collaboration includes her best-known titles as well a new YA adventure series which follows characters Lilli and Zane around the globe, as well as Not on Your Life, a never-before-released romance thriller.
Jason Kelly, chief executive officer of Sounded.com, said: “We’re very pleased to announce the release of 50 of Catherine Lanigan’s audiobooks, exclusively to Sounded.com. This is a perfect example for publishers of how TrueVoice™ can be used to commercialise large catalogues and give a voice to author’s work, which otherwise may not be heard. With the ability now to attract new audiences, this showcase demonstrates the responsible use of technology for the publishing industry as a whole. We’re privileged at Sounded.com to be entrusted with Catherine’s lifetime of works and look forward to announcing more new releases soon.”
Lanigan said: “I spent a year trying to find a reputable, honest audio publisher when I found Sounded on the IngramSpark expert directory. I had worked with Ingram for decades in my 45 years of publishing. If I could not trust their recommendation, I was about to give up. My readers, fellow authors and friends have urged me for years to put my books in audio, but in my voice. I had just recorded one of my newest books and was poised to bite the bullet and spend the rest of my life in a sound studio. My experience has been one of joy."
The audiobooks were released on 7th October 2024.
