Souvenir Press will publish The Listening Path: The Creative Art of Attention by Julia Cameron, a sequel to her book The Artist's Way, first published in the 1990s.
Publisher Rebecca Gray acquired UK and Commonwealth rights (excluding Canada) from Sandy Violette at Abner Stein. Publication is scheduled for January 2021.
The Listening Path will be a "transformative guide" to more profound listening and creativity. Over six weeks, readers will be given tools to become better listeners, to their environment, the people around them and themselves.
Gray said: "When we took on Souvenir Press we knew Julia Cameron was the jewel in our crown, so we are thrilled to have this new book coming in 2021. The Listening Path is some of her best work — timely, nourishing, transformative. Now more than ever we need to listen more carefully, to ourselves, each other, and the world around us. Julia is the first and best in her field, and The Listening Path shows that is still true, 26 years after she was first published in UK."
Cameron added: "It gives me great pleasure to launch The Listening Path. I have long believed that we do not listen — not closely enough, not carefully enough. The tools of this book change our perceptions. With their help, we become more awake, alive and aware."
The Artist's Way was originally self-published in 1991, and published in 1994 by Souvenir Press in the UK, where it has sold just under 184,000 copies for £2.1m via Nielsen BookScan (which has measured sales since 1998). It was reissued by Souvenir in April, and The Artist's Way Workbook will be published on 3rd September 2020.
