The SPCK Group has appointed author, journalist and presenter Lauren Windle as commissioning editor, effective from 7th November.
Windle previously headed up the digital opinion page at Premier’s Woman Alive magazine, and is a presenter and a journalist. She is the author of Notes on Love (SPCK) and the upcoming Notes on Feminism (SPCK), which will be released in March 2024.
In her new role, she will be reporting to Philip Law, publishing director for SPCK’s general division, comprising the imprints SPCK, Lion Books, Form and Marylebone House.
Law said: "Lauren was already a highly valued author and freelance writer for SPCK before accepting our invitation to join the staff team. As well as her excellent skills as an author and editor, Lauren is actively connected to a range of networks and forums, both Christian and secular, and we look forward to developing our relationships with them and to seeing the exciting new books that will emerge in the coming years."
Sam Richardson, c.e.o. of SPCK, added: “I’m delighted to welcome Lauren as an excellent addition to our talented team. We have great momentum at SPCK with our sales and market share strongly up this year, and I’m confident Lauren’s acquisitions will further strengthen our list for further growth.”
Wendy Grisham, group publishing director and deputy c.e.o., commented: "Lauren is a great talent who is already familiar with the SPCK team and the work we do. Having her join the team shows great confidence in the SPCK programme as we grow our list and make it even stronger."
Windle said: “After working with the team at SPCK as an author, I am delighted to be ‘crossing over’ and taking on the role of commissioning editor. I will be on the hunt for more of the inspirational and faith-based books for which the publishing house is known."
