SPCK Group has promoted Thomas Creedy to publishing director of Inter-Varsity Press (IVP), its evangelical publishing wing.
Creedy, who took up his new role on 14th May 2024, was previously editorial director of IVP and its academic imprint, Apollos. He first joined SPCK in 2016 as a digital marketing executive, before joining the IVP editorial team in 2018. Creedy will continue to report to Wendy Grisham, deputy chief executive of SPCK.
Grisham said: “Tom’s excellent leadership in his previous role as editorial director proves that he is the right person to head up IVP as publishing director. Tom’s impressive blend of enthusiasm, knowledge and experience – unusual in someone relatively young – coupled with his deep respect for the history of IVP and its place in the wider SPCK Group will be a fantastic asset in this new leadership position.”
Creedy commented: “It’s a true honour to be appointed publishing director for IVP. Having grown up with IVP books on my parents’ shelves and appreciating the balance of deep wisdom and cultural relevance of the brand, I’m excited to be part of shaping IVP legacy as we head towards our centenary in 1928.
“IVP strives to be relevant, globally aware, biblically rooted and culturally engaged. I’m excited to see us continue to publish into key areas such as mental health and wellbeing and cultural trends, as well as launch some major new academic series in the coming years.”
Sam Richardson, c.e.o. of SPCK, said: “With our increasing momentum in global, digital and corelist sales, I’m delighted to see Tom step up as IVP publishing director. In the years I’ve worked with him, he’s made a strong, positive impact internally and externally, and I look forward to seeing where he takes IVP in the future."
