Basford pens The Jungle Book cover

Colouring book author Johanna Basford has designed a colouring-in cover for Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book (Vintage) in a collaboration between Virgin Books and Vintage Children’s Classics.

The special edition ties-in with Basford's new colouring book, Magical Jungle, to be published by Virgin Books on 11th August. The Jungle Book will also feature illustrations from Magical Jungle.

The new special edition of The Jungle Book (Vintage) is priced £5.99 and will be released on 11th August 2016, the same publication date as Magical Jungle.

Frances Macmillan, senior editor at Vintage Classics, said: "We’d been thinking about colouring-in covers for our classics when Virgin Books approached us with the idea of collaborating to promote Johanna Basford’s new book. Johanna has provided an absolutely gorgeous cover for The Jungle Book and we hope this will lead more people to read – and create their own personalised cover for – Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale."

Basford is published by both Virgin Books and Laurence King, and is behind the bestselling colouring book Enchanted Forest (Laurence King) and Secret Garden (Laurence King).

Virgin Books' Magical Jungle was announced along with Johanna's Christmas in February of this year. The latter will publish with Virgin Books on 27th October.

Basford, who lives in Aberdeenshire in Scotland, will be in London for a couple days in August to promote the title.
