Spotify is ramping up its audiobook offering by testing a free audiobook bundle for subscribers, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports.
The new offer would enable subscribers to listen to up to 20 hours of audiobooks without having to pay an additional fee. This move signifies Spotify’s effort to become a leading provider of audiobooks, the newspaper said.
Although some of the details are still unclear and the scope is yet to be revealed, subscribers are likely to be offered a broad range of titles for a limited time.
WSJ says the offer will likely become available in English-speaking countries like the UK, the US, Canada and Australia.
The company’s audiobook catalogue, featuring more than 300,000 tiles, was made available to UK listeners for à-la-carte purchase in November 2022 after being rolled out in the US a month earlier.
