Simon & Schuster will publish a book by David Miliband on refugees and “how we can make a difference” as part of a TED series.
Rescue: Refugees and the Political Crisis of Our Time is based on Miliband’s TED talk of the same name which took place in April.
Miliband, president and c.e.o. of the International Rescue Committee, explores the issue with “compassion and clarity”, explaining “why we should care and how we can make a difference”. It spans war zones in the Middle East to the heart of Europe to explore the crisis and what could be done.
An S&S spokesperson said: “His innovative and practical call to action shows that the crisis need not overwhelm us.”
The former Labour secretary of state for foreign affairs for the UK who is now based in New York also delves into his own family story, as the son of refugees, and draws “revealing lessons from his life in politics”.
Claudia Connal, editorial director at S&S, said: "We are proud to partner with David Miliband and TED on this urgently needed missive on how we treat people in plight."
Rescue will be published on 14th November in hardback priced at £8.99. A percentage of the proceeds will go toward s the IRC which responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
