Bethan Jones has been promoted to senior commissioning editor in adult fiction at Simon & Schuster.
Previously commissioning editor, Jones has been at S&S UK for nearly three years. Publishing director of fiction Clare Hey described her as an editor who "combines commercial savvy with editorial sensitivity".
She said: "Bethan has acquired strategically and cleverly over the past year, bringing a broad range of fiction to the list – from Jack Jordan’s commercial blockbuster Do No Harm to Soon Wiley’s though-provoking reading group novel When We Fell Apart."
As well as working on reading group fiction, Jones also works with deputy publishing director Katherine Armstrong across the crime and thriller list and has been a driver in the publishing of authors such as Kathy Reichs, Richard & Judy Book Club author Catherine Steadman, Chris Carter and the Waterstones Thriller of the Month Firewatching by Russ Thomas, which was also number one on the Saturday Times chart.
Armstrong said: "Since starting at S&S UK, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Bethan on the crime and thriller list. She is an excellent editor, a superb colleague and a wonderful and passionate champion of her authors both in and out of house. This is an incredibly well-deserved promotion for her and I – and the rest of the team – are excited to see what Bethan will bring to the S&S UK list in the years ahead."
