Simon & Schuster UK will publish the debut novel from Fabulous assistant editor Claire Frost, about an Instagram star living a lie.
Living My Best Li(f)e will publish as part of the publisher’s Books and the City programme, initially as an e-book on 4th April 2019, followed by a paperback on 4th October 2019. S&S UK editor Emma Capron acquired world rights including audio for the first novel from Frost, who is also responsible for the book reviews at the Sun on Sunday's Fabulous magazine.
The novel itself centres around two women, Millie, a single mother and Instagram star “who is #LivingMyBestLife when really she’s presenting a lie and Bell, a woman approaching her 40s with her present life in tatters resulting in the removal of every social media app her iPhone carries”, according to an S&S UK spokesperson.
As their lives collide, a friendship blossoms, and the reader follows their journey as they discover that when you zoom out of that perfect photo, nobody has the perfect life, the blurb reads.
Frost, who has worked for Fabulous for more than a decade, said: “When it comes to women’s fiction, the Books and the City dream team are the best in the business, so when they gave me the opportunity to work with them I couldn’t say yes fast enough. As a debut author, knowing that I have the support and knowledge of Emma and the team behind me at all times is invaluable. I can’t wait to begin my author career with the Digital Originals crew and the wider S&S family.”
“I am absolutely thrilled to be working with Claire,” Capron said. “We have a long history through the books page of Fabulous, and Claire has always been a friend of Books and the City so it seemed like the perfect fit to come together over a novel. This heart-warming and funny story is the perfect balm for the Insta-weary mind.”
