Maud Sepult will be promoted to group rights director at Simon & Schuster UK, when Stephanie Purcell moves to Bloomsbury next month.
Sepult will report to commercial director Russell Evans when her role commences on 1st February.
Sepult has been with the company since 2015, and in June 2016 was promoted to deputy rights director. On Adult co-editions and royalty deals, Sepult has built S&S' customer base in Brazil, Portugal and the US, growing sales by 15%. In Children’s, she has more than doubled the budget of her markets since 2015, tripling the German budget as part of that growth. Last year she played an integral role selling international rights for seven-figure acquisition Skandar and the Unicorn Thief series by A F Steadman, due to publish in spring 2022.
Commenting on the appointment, Evans said: "I have had the pleasure of working with Maud over the past few years, and during this time she has demonstrated a passion for our books, professionalism, a positive attitude and commercial acumen. Maud is always on the look-out for the next deal, the best price and schedule for her customers and the highest profit margin for our business. Blend all this together and we have what is needed to make an exceptional group rights director."
Sepult added: "I am hugely excited to lead the S&S Rights Team. I feel very fortunate with such an exceptional team and an amazing list of titles to sell and look forward to the thrilling opportunities ahead!"
