Stein to head new literary division of The Bright Agency

Arabella Stein is heading a new literary division at The Bright Agency representing fiction, children’s books, YA, general non-fiction and graphic novels. 

Bright has represented authors and author-illustrators for many years in children’s fiction and is now expanding to be a full-service creative agency, representing talent across writers, illustrators and animators. 

The new arm, Bright Literary, is being led by m.d. Stein, whose list has included award-winning and bestselling picture book creators such as Benji Davies, Chris Chatterton, Yasmeen Ismail and Carys Bexington. She also represents Hannah Peck, who’s 2021 debut author-illustrated chapter book Kate on the Case (Piccadilly Press) was shortlisted for the V&A Illustration awards and the Alligator’s Mouth Award. 

Stein said: “I’m thrilled to be officially launching Bright Literary. We’re building on our already fantastic foundation at Bright to offer specialised and expert representation to authors and author-illustrators across all age ranges and genres. Having worked with Bright for many years now, I know that we are in an enviable position, both with the talent we already represent and our excitement in finding new and undiscovered voices.” 

New associate agent Katie Blagden was internally promoted from the marketing department of Bright and has previous experience as a bookseller. She will be working closely with Stein to discover and develop new writers, and has especial interest from hearing from LGBTQIA+, disabled and BIPOC authors.
