Edtech startup KalamTech has created an app series about great thinkers from history, voiced by Stephen Fry.
The first app, ‘Einstein on Time’, teaches children how to read clocks, count seconds and measure rhythm, as well as the meaning behind Einstein’s theories of relativity and the relationship between time, gravity and speed.
Einstein is presented as a 3D character within the app, voiced by Stephen Fry, who guides the users through the information and mini-games contained within the app.
App co-creator Zaher Zeidan said: “When I was a child, my father used to read to me from a 'series of greats' which introduced me at an early age to history's most celebrated thinkers and artists. Since then I've been an avid reader of biographies and they have had a huge influence on me.
“I believe that national curriculums around the world do not sufficiently cover the people who produced the knowledge they teach in schools. They put students in a corridor and ask them to compete to get to the ‘end’ instead of instilling a sense of passion for knowledge itself and giving them the opportunity to get inside the minds of humanity’s greatest heroes. I dream of changing that.”
Human Heroes 1: Einstein on Time is available on IOS and Android devices and is priced at £3.99.
Future apps in the Human Series will focus on Isaac Newton, Marie Curie, Mozart, Lada Lovelace, Aristotle and Jane Austin.
