Saffron Stocker, currently senior designer at Penguin Random House, is moving to Hodder & Stoughton in the newly created role of deputy art director.
She will have specific responsibility for the non-fiction lists at Hodder & Stoughton, including Hodder Non-Fiction, Hodder Press, Catalyst and Yellow Kite, and will report to art director Alasdair Oliver. She will also work closely with Vicky Palmer, who has just joined H&S as creative and marketing director, “to ensure that creative design is at the heart of the business”.
Prior to holding her current role at Penguin, Stocker worked at publishers including Dorling Kindersley and Bloomsbury. She has designed artwork for multiple bestselling and prizewinning authors including Mary Berry, Elif Shafak, Rachel Roddy, India Knight and Stanley Tucci.
Palmer and Oliver said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Saffron to Hodder later this month, at such an exciting time for the company. She brings with her a wealth of experience and a portfolio of stunning covers and we can’t wait to see her artwork adorning our books in months and years to come.”
Stocker added: “I am beyond exited to work with Alasdair and the rest of the team at Hodder on their incredible list, and am looking forward to contributing to the creative vision going forward. The last four years at Penguin have been amazing working with some outstanding authors, and a fantastic team.”
Stocker will begin her new role at Hodder on 27th November.
