New digital publishing house Storm, run by Oliver Rhodes, has appointed Vicky Blunden, a freelance editor and editorial consultant, to the position of editorial director.
Blunden, who before going freelance worked as a senior editor at Myriad editions, where she published Elizabeth Haynes, will join Storm in February 2023 and report to Claire Bord, Storm’s deputy managing director. She will be acquiring commercial fiction.
She said: “I’m delighted to be joining Storm as an editorial director. I’ve loved working for a wide range of author and publisher clients over the past few years, but I couldn’t resist the opportunity to be part of the amazing team at Storm at this hugely exciting time, and to be publishing again.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with my colleagues and to building a list of outstanding authors who will get the best possible publishing experience with a dynamic, forward-thinking and innovative new company behind them.”
Storm m.d. Rhodes commented: “Vicky brings a wealth of experience and a keen eye for great storytelling. We’re looking for outstanding talent to add to the Storm team, and Vicky certainly fits that bill.
“We’ve had a very encouraging start and have been blown away by our submissions from authors and agents alike. In just two months, we have over 60 books contracted and some incredible stories ready for publication in 2023.”
Blunden’s appointment brings the Storm Publishing team to six, with more additions expected in early 2023. Storm is currently recruiting for an editorial assistant.
