Stuart MacBride is auctioning off the opportunity to become a character in his next Logan McRae novel, to be published in 2018.
In partnership with online auction platform Givergy, MacBride is providing the prize to help raise money for public funded charity the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). The charity is dedicated to saving lives at sea and has been in operation since 1824, saving over 141,500 lives in its 192 year history.
Following an in-depth interview discussing everything from favourite films, tastes in music, fashion sense and "every quirk and trait in between", MacBride will create a unique character for the winner that could range from a mob enforcer, police officer or hapless murder victim.
MacBride is author of books including a crime thriller series centred around a police officer, Detective Sergeant Logan McRae.
Anne Scott, RNLI community fundraising manager, said: “We are delighted that Stuart is offering his services again for the charity. We have worked with Stuart in the past and the money raised has been a very welcome contribution to our cause. The money from the auction will help support the volunteers with both the rescue operations and educating local communities on safety at sea. I look forward to seeing how well the auction will do.”
Givergy’s global director of business development, Jon Douglas said: “We are privileged to be working with such a fantastic author such as Stuart and help raise some money for a very worthy cause. Stuart is a great writer and I am sure whoever is lucky enough to win this prize will have a great time creating their fictional alter ego with him.”
The auction is now accepting bids and will be live until Friday (23rd September).
