Studio Press, an imprint of Kings Road Publishing, will this November publish a book to help children protect the planet.
Little Book for Big Changes, by Karen Ng and Kirsten Liepmann, illustrated by Simona Karaivanova, contains puzzles, games and craft activities to teach readers about the importance of caring for the earth.
Earlier this year Oxford University Press declared that ‘plastic’ was this year’s children’s word of the year and senior commissioning editor Emma Drage said: “At a time when we are facing unprecedented global challenges, I’m delighted to be working on an activity book which inspires young people to make a positive impact on the world around them, to take better care of the planet and of one another. It seems fitting to be publishing this book in the same year that 'plastic' was declared children’s word of the year, showing that there is a real interest in this topic amongst young people.”
Little Book For Big Changes is set to publish on 15th November 2018. Wren & Rook, part of the Hachette Children’s Group, is also releasing an environmental book for children this autumn. This Book Is Not Rubbish: 50 Ways to Ditch Plastic, Reduce Rubbish and Save the World! is written by science writer Isabel Thomas, and covers topics such as plastic pollution, global warming and protecting local wildlife.
