Caroline Summers is leaving her role as head of book sales for academic publisher Emerald and taking up a new post as sales director at The Paperback Shop.
Based in Fairford, Gloucestershire, The Paperback Shop has long been an online marketplace seller, but has also been developing a wholesale model supplying domestic and international customers with a “one stop shop” for UK titles. Summers will be heading up a campaign to drive the wholesale venture forward.
Summers said: “After being with Emerald for three and a half years and playing a pivotal role in the book programme going from strength to strength – culminating in Emerald being recognised this year with a Nibbie – it is time to take on a new challenge. I am so excited by the ambitious plans and direction that The Paperback Shop has and I really look forward to working with the knowledgeable and enthusiastic team to drive this next chapter.”
Paperback Shop m.d. Angela Gillett said: “I am absolutely delighted Caroline is joining the Paperback Shop team. Her wealth of experience and contacts will help us to build on our success and her ‘can do’ attitude is exactly right for us.”
Summers takes up her new post on 9th September.
Emerald will announce a replacement head of book sales shortly.
