Production company Awesomeness Films has optioned Our Chemical Hearts, a debut YA novel by Australian author Krystal Sutherland, for a film adaptation.
The story is about an obsessive film buff Henry Page, a hopeless romantic who has never been in love until he meets Grace Town. The book will be released in the UK by Hot Key Books, an imprint of Bonnier Zaffre, on 4th October, to coincide with publication by Penguin in the US and Australia.
Matt Kaplan, president of Awesomeness Films, said: “Krystal Sutherland is a breakout young writer, whose voice uniquely captures the emotional journey of falling in love for the first time. We are excited to be working with her at Awesomeness Films and look forward to bringing Our Chemical Hearts to life.”
The deal was struck between Max Siemers of Awesomeness Films and Sutherland’s agents UTA and InkWell. In the UK, Sutherland is represented by Catherine Clarke at Felicity Bryan Associates.
