Sara Talbot is leaving Little, Brown to join Faber as sales director in February.
Talbot will succeed Charlotte Robertson as sales director for Faber and the Independent Alliance, the collective of 15 indie presses. She will be responsible for Faber’s global sales operations, including UK, e-book, online, US and international markets, reporting to Faber c.e.o. Stephen Page. She will also join the publisher’s board.
Currently UK sales director at Little, Brown Book Group, Talbot has previously worked in other marketing and sales roles in the division, covering online, mass market and export. She began her publishing career at Compass Independent Book Sales.
Page said: "I am delighted that Sara will be joining Faber and the Independent Alliance. She is an outstanding sales professional, with an exemplary reputation and strong experience across all the areas for which she will be responsible. Her intelligence and strategic sense are matched by her energy and her ambition for quality publishing, and by her impressive track record across a range of books, publishing genres and markets. She joins at a time of great success for Faber and the Independent Alliance, and will head up an exceptional and dynamic sales team."
"I am hugely excited to be joining Faber and the Independent Alliance, whose publishing I have always admired," Talbot said. "I cannot wait to get started in this new role and have the opportunity to build on their tremendous success, with such brilliant books, as part of an exceptional team. I am of course sad to be leaving Little, Brown and my colleagues there who have been a joy to work with. I know they will continue to achieve incredible things."
Robertson revealed in July that she would leave Faber at the end of the year to head up a new literary agency in association with Arlington Management.
