Independent bookshops can win £500 and a visit from Jonny Duddle via a new window display competition, organised by Templar Publishing.
Templar created the competition to celebrate the paperback publication of The Pirates of Scurvy Sands, out in August, and is providing bookshops with a pirate point-of-sale pack that includes bunting, standees, posters, gold coins and an eye patch.
Bookshops have until 23rd July to request a pack then until 7th September to create a window display and share the results on social media. The bookshop with the best window, as chosen by Templar, will win the author visit and the cash prize.
Lisa Hoare, communications director at Kings Road Publishing, said: “The joyful and bright artwork of The Pirates of Scurvy Sands is perfect for fun summer window displays. This is a great opportunity for us to get more involved with the independent book shops, encouraging creativity and imagination. We can’t wait to see the innovative windows.”
The Pirates of Scurvy Sands is about a girl called Matilda who goes on holiday with her friends the Jolley-Rogers. The residents of Scurvy Sands don’t immediately trust Matilda because she has clean teeth and tidy clothes but they change their minds once the visitor discovers the secret of the area’s legendary treasure.
