Matt Boxell has been made sales manager at Icon Books, swapping Thames & Hudson for the independent publisher.
Boxell was the territory sales manager at Thames & Hudson, managing accounts across Europe, Africa and India. He had previously worked as export sales manager at Abrams & Chronicle in London.
At Icon, Boxell will drive sales working with the Independent Alliance team in the UK and Europe alongside the press’ international partners, including Allen & Unwin in Australasia, PRH in India, Times in Singapore and Malaysia, PGW and PGC in the Americas and Icon’s owners Jonathan Ball Publishers in South Africa. He starts the role on 26th September.
"I’m thrilled to be joining Icon Books, and especially at such an exciting time in the company’s evolution," he said. "I’ve learned so much at Thames & Hudson and Abrams & Chronicle Books before that, and I can’t wait to bring this experience to such a forward-thinking and dynamic publisher. During the interview process I was struck by the passion and vision that they have for the future, and can’t wait to start working with their brilliant team."
Associate publisher Andrew Furlow added: "I’m very pleased that Matt will be joining the team at Icon. His career to date, in international sales is very impressive: he clearly has keen commercial instincts and a proven ability to deliver both outstanding sales and maintain the best of relationships with his customers. He is joining at crucial time of change and expansion, just as we present our biggest and best-ever list, for January to June 2023, and we know he will thrive on the challenge of a wider sales brief at Icon and soon be playing a key role in the company."
