The deadline for submissions to The Bookseller’s Buyer’s Guide is fast approaching, with publishers only having two more weeks to submit their picks for the biggest books of the next six months. Twice a year, The Bookseller publishes the guides, with around 24,000 titles included, and they are split into three catalogues: Fiction, Non-Fiction and Children’s.
The guides are used by booksellers to help make buying decisions and narrow down the “must have” books for the season ahead, and they help booksellers discover titles they otherwise may have missed. This can be a valuable tool for books with smaller marketing budgets, and publishers can submit their titles for free.
Amanda Dunne Fulmer, Halfway Up the Stairs, winner of Individual Bookseller of the Year at the British Book Awards said: "The Bookseller Buyer’s Guide for Children’s Books is a huge help in keeping me up to date with what is new and upcoming in children’s publishing. The guide essentially acts as a kind of ‘safety net’ so I don’t miss new titles that might have not been on my radar. As I run a popular subscription service, the descriptive snippets give me a useful insight into whether a book might be right for a reader which is time well-spent!”
For the latest edition of the Buyer’s Guide, submissions are open now until 25th October and late submissions cannot be accepted.
Eligible titles are those published between 1st February 2025 and 31st July 2025 (inclusive). Publishers can submit their titles here. The guides will be published 31st January 2025.
From the submissions, The Bookseller’s team of previewers select their highlights of the season, including 10 titles not to miss for each catalogue (Fiction, Non-Fiction and Children’s).
Robyn Carr, key account manager at The Bookseller, said: "The Buyer’s Guides are the only independent guide of its kind, a brilliant compendium of all new titles for the season ahead, keeping booksellers and the industry ahead of the market. It’s vital publishers submit to their well-read pages as book-buyers rely on their expert predictions and seasonal highlights to inform their purchasing for the months ahead."
Publishers can either upload titles using ISBN import, Onix file import or upload titles manually. There are user guides on the Buyer’s Guides website. There is also a full list of categories that appear in the guides.
