The Bookseller has launched two Instagram Broadcast Channels to bring you all the latest updates from the publishing industry, across news and rights deals. According to Meta, Broadcast Channels are a public, one-to-many messaging tool for creators and outlets to directly engage with their followers. These Broadcast Channels are used to help followers stay in the know with the latest updates, through pictures, videos and text.
The Bookseller (@_thebookseller) has a following of 40.2k on Instagram, and launched its first channel called Upcoming Book Releases – Rights Report on 1st August this year. In this, links to articles on rights deals are posted, as well as posts about book previews. The channel is currently home to 633 members.
On Monday 16th September, a Broadcast Channel for Book Trade News was also set up, in which links will be shared to breaking news stories from across the publishing industry.
Social media executive at The Bookseller, Molly Openshaw said: “Using Instagram’s Broadcast Channel feature allows us to create focused hubs where followers can choose what type of content they want to see more of.
“While Instagram is primarily visual, Broadcast Channels provide a text-based and link-sharing option that helps connect our audience to our website. This feature enables more direct communication with our followers and allows them to turn on notifications so they don’t miss important updates among the noise of their Instagram feeds. We look forward to utilising this feature to share our articles with a wider audience and continue to keep our audience up to date on book trade news.”
