Audiobooks are featured on Spotify’s Wrapped for the first time in the UK, with J R R Tolkien’s The Fellowship of the Ring (HarperCollins) emerging as the most popular audiobook of the year.
Chris Van Tulleken’s Ultra-Processed People (Cornerstone Press) was the second most popular audiobook among Spotify listeners in the UK, followed by Rory Stewart’s Politics On the Edge (Jonathan Cape). Prince Harry’s Spare (Penguin) was ranked fourth, while A Game of Thrones (HarperVoyager) by George R R Martin landed the fifth spot.
Also on the list of the top 10 audiobooks for UK listeners was Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club (Penguin), in sixth place, followed by David Mitchell’s Unruly (Penguin), Bob Mortimer’s And Away... (Gallery UK) and Bella Mackie’s How to Kill Your Family (The Borough Press). The final book on the list is Tolkien’s The Two Towers (HaperCollins).
Meanwhile, Sarah J Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses (Bloomsbury) claimed the top spot for the most listened-to audiobook globally, followed by The Fellowship of the Ring. Jennette McCurdy’s I’m Glad My Mom Died (Simon & Schuster) was the third most popular audiobook with listeners across the world, followed by Maas’ A Court of Mist and Fury (Bloomsbury) and then Colleen Hoover’s It Ends with Us (Simon & Schuster).
Maas has also topped the list of the top audiobook authors globally, followed by Tolkien, Stephen King, Hoover and Freida McFadden.
Spotify has also opened its 2024 Wrapped Creator Experience to authors, who can now explore the ways their fans listened to their books this year.
