The Independent is partnering with the Henley Literary Festival, which is set to take place from 28th September to 6th October at Henley-on-Thames.
As part of the collaboration, which is taking place for a second year, the Independent will deliver exclusive features and insights from the festival’s key authors. Journalists from the publication will also be interviewing writers on stage.
On 2nd October, David Nicholls will be in conversation with Independent arts editor Jessie Thompson, who will also interview Jacqueline Wilson on that day. Mick Brown will speak at an event with the paper’s chief book critic Martin Chilton on 29th September, while Anthony Seldon will be in conversation with political editor David Maddox on 3rd October.
Additionally, on 3rd November, the Independent and the Henley Literary Festival will be hosting a pop-up event with Yinka and David Olusoga, who will be speaking with race correspondent Nadine White.
Other names speaking at this year’s festival include Roger McGough, Zeinab Badawi, Rupert Everett, Elif Shafak and Jonnie Peacock, and the full lineup is available online.
"We are pleased the Independent is a partner again this year," said Harriet Reed-Ryan, events director and programmer at the Henley Literary Festival. "The title and the festival are both forums for thoughtful and nuanced thinking. Whether it’s the top literary names, historians, broadcasters or children’s authors, there is something for every interest.”
The festival will include 120 events for adults and children across three venues in the town, and tickets go on general sale on 15th July via the website.
