The Pitch Agency, a boutique digital and influencer marketing agency for publishing, has appointed Caley Routledge as managing director. Routledge previously worked for TikTok where he oversaw the TikTok Book Club, the TikTok Book Awards and partnership with the Hay Festival.
Routledge played a leading role in the platform’s support for BookTok and held UK and global strategy and operations roles at TikTok since 2020. In his new role, he will focus on scaling the agency while developing new offerings that can "help propel publishing forwards".
Routledge said: "The digital world once diverted much of my attention away from books. You’d find me on YouTube or in front of a video game. I still enjoy both, but the BookTok community reignited my love for reading. Throughout my time at TikTok, I’ve been exploring the idea that effective digital strategies can immerse us in the world, in experiences, in communities, rather than distracting us from them. That’s how I met Georgia [Henry], and why I’m joining Pitch. Together, we’re investing our energy into creating more opportunities for publishers, authors and readers to connect in meaningful ways around a shared love for books."
Georgia Henry, founding director of The Pitch Agency, said: "Caley’s impact on the industry through his advocacy for BookTok has been quietly critical. He’s helped establish it as a priority within TikTok, in turn supporting the growth of the community and its impact on our sector. There isn’t a person in publishing unaware of the effect that BookTok has had. He’s done this while also managing other responsibilities, so I can’t wait to see what we can do now we’re fully focused on one aim. He’s perfect to help take Pitch into its next chapter."
