Amazon imprint Thomas & Mercer has signed a new crime series from Carol Wyer in a three-book deal.
World English rights were acquired from Amy Tannenbaum at Jane Rotrosen Agency, with first book, An Eye for An Eye, to be published in spring 2021.
It will introduce readers to DI Kate Young in the close-knit Staffordshire area. The synopsis explains: “Young abruptly returns to the force when her superintendent’s close friend is found murdered in a gruesome crime scene. But as Young’s investigation progresses, she begins to unravel a thread of corruption leading to her own team. Throughout the series Young works to get to the source, but eventually learns that she might have to take matters into her own hands if she is to dispense justice for good.”
Wyer said: “I’m thrilled that my new crime series will receive the expertise and support of Amazon Publishing. I’m excited to be working with their fantastic team and hope that new and current readers will enjoy meeting troubled investigator Kate Young and her maverick unit."
Jack Butler, editor, added: “Carol’s crime series have been published to widespread acclaim and sales success, and with good reason: her intricate characterisation and handling of challenging themes are always so compelling that it is no surprise she has attracted such a large readership in a short period of time. We are so excited to introduce this first-rate protagonist to crime readers, who we are sure will be very impressed with this fresh, timely series.”
