Hachette Children’s Team has hired Tig Wallace, formerly commissioning editor at Penguin Random House Children’s, as senior commissioning editor in the fiction team.
Wallace will report to editorial director Sarah Lambert, who said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Tig Wallace to Hachette Children’s Group. We have huge ambitions for the growth of our fiction list and see the opportunities in middle-grade and teen/YA as a major TCM focus for us in 2019 and beyond. Tig has a very impressive career track record, and we know that together with the highly talented editors he is joining, Tig’s creative, commercial approach will bolster our firepower to deliver inspired acquisitions and market-focused publishing.”
At PRH Wallace published authors including Emily Suvada, Youtuber Lilly Singh, and in 2016 was nominated for the Branford Boase, which is given every year to a debut author and their editor, for his work on David Hofmeyr’s Stone Rider.
HCG said it has “major plans for growth” for the older fiction team, where Wallace will work alongside editor-at-large Helen Thomas, senior commissioning editors Sam Swinnerton and Naomi Greenwood, and commissioning editors Lena McCauley and Polly Lyall Grant. The team is overseen by senior group publisher Ruth Alltimes.
