Simon & Schuster Children’s author Adam Silvera has achieved a milestone of 100,000 copies sold this year, with his YA novel They Both Die at The End.
The book, which soared in popularity assisted by BookTok, was first published by S&S in 2017. Since then, is has consistently appeared in the UK, Ireland, US, ANZ and South Africa bestseller charts. It has been at the No 1 YA Fiction slot for nine weeks, remained in the Top 10 YA Fiction chart for 33 weeks consecutively and has been in the Top 10 Children’s book chart for 10 weeks this year. According to BookScan, it has sold 339,206 copies across all editions in its lifetime, not including lockdown weeks.
Entertainment One, producer Drew Comins and "Bridgerton" creator Chris Van Dusen have announced plans to adapt the novel for television, with Silvera attached as creator, screenwriter, and executive producer.
The prequel, The First to Die at the End, will publish in October 2022. Silvera will be travelling to the UK after publication to celebrate the book, and will be talking live at The Bookseller’s Children’s Conference on 26th September.
The publisher has more books forthcoming with Silvera, including the final instalment in his sci-fi fantasy trilogy Infinity Cyle and a sequel to They Both Die at the End. The title is yet to be announced.
