Boydell & Brewer has appointed Tom Clark as its new chief executive officer.
He will start at the Suffolk-based academic publisher on 12th February, succeeding James Powell who leaves the business on the 31st January.
Clark’s previous role was vice-president of global publishing at De Gruyter and he has also held senior positions at Emerald Group Publishing, Wiley and Elsevier.
Edward Milford, chair of the Boydell Group Board, said: “After a comprehensive and very competitive recruitment process, we are delighted that Tom has accepted our offer to become the next c.e.o.. He impressed us with his vision, and we believe he has the skills and experience to deliver sustainable growth.”

Powell announced his intention to step away from full-time management last September.
Boydell & Brewer is an independent academic publisher that is in its 55th year. It has been employee-owned since 2015. The company is based in Woodbridge, Suffolk, and Rochester, New York.
