Puffin Books, part of Penguin Random House Children’s, will next year publish Tom Fletcher’s sequel to his Christmas novel, The Christmasaurus.
The Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch, illustrated by Shane Devries, takes place one year on from the events in the first book. William Trundle is swept back into the North Pole where he meets the Winter Witch, whose power to control time allows Santa Claus to travel around the world every Christmas Eve.
Editorial director at Penguin Random House Children’s Natalie Doherty acquired world rights from Stephanie Thwaites at Curtis Brown.
“We’re so proud to publish Tom, who is a truly unique creative talent and storyteller for all ages,” said Doherty. “The Christmasaurus was a roaring success - the biggest debut middle-grade book published in the UK in 2016. This eagerly awaited new chapter in William Trundle and the Christmasaurus’ adventure, full of magic, music, humour and heart, will be one of the publishing highlights of 2019.”
The Christmasaurus and the Winter Witch will be published in hardback in October 2019.
