American science fiction and fantasy imprint Tor is giving independent bookshops in the UK free copies of its titles in a new campaign.
Books including Magic for Liars by Sarah Galley, set in a private academy for mages, epic fantasy Fate of the Fallen by Kel Kade, and Robert Jordan’s never-before-seen first novel, Warrior of The Altaii, are being offered to stores with an interest in the genre. Each will get two complimentary copies along with posters, book plates and pin badges, and prizes including staff treats for the entire store.
Tor President Fritz Foy said: “Independent booksellers have always been our lifeblood and the key to our authors long term success, and we are so excited to be able to include for the first time UK stores in our promotional efforts.
Founded in 1980, New York-based Tor Books is an imprint of Tom Doherty Associates, owned by Macmillan Publishers.
Freelance book publicist Jamie-Lee Nardone will head-up the initiative in a newly-created role to drive sales of Tor titles in the UK. The new campaign will be rolled out via the Bookseller’s Association.
