T&R Theakston Limited is set to extend its partnership with Harrogate International Festivals and continue to sponsor Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival.
The festival is the world’s largest and most prestigious celebration of crime fiction, and home of the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award.
The partnership has been in place for an impressive 20 years and was recently shortlisted in two categories of the prestigious UK Sponsorship Awards 2024.
The festival has attracted internationally best-selling authors such as Val McDermid, Denise Mina, S A Cosby, P D James, Lee Child, John Grisham, Michael Connolly, Ian Rankin and Harlan Coben.
This year’s festival was the most successful so far with more than 18,000 tickets sold and crime fiction fans from across the UK, Europe, the US and beyond attending. The value of the festival to the local economy is estimated at £8m annually. The extended sponsorship deal will take the partnership to its 25th anniversary.
