Trapeze has snapped up a “sweeping” love story by Michelle Adams, marking a change in direction for the suspense author and scientist, as the Cornwall-based tale also attracts auctions and pre-empts from across the world.
Editorial director Phoebe Morgan bought UK and Commonwealth rights to two novels Little Wishes and Hidden Treasures, from Madeline Milburn at the Madeline Milburn Agency,
Adams is the author of two psychological thrillers published by Headline which have been translated into 15 languages. Currently based in Cyprus, she works full-time as a writer, and part-time as a scientist.
Little Wishes will publish in paperback, e-book and audio in 2020, with the second novel following in 2021.
Milburn said: “I’m thrilled that Trapeze will be launching such an emotionally charged, uplifting love story where wishes can come true. It has already struck a universal chord on an international level, and our rights director Liane-Louise Smith has accepted a pre-empt from Italian publisher Guinti and is fielding offers from Germany.”
Morgan said: “Michelle has blown me away with her beautiful writing and evocative storytelling; Little Wishes is a story that can stand the test of time and her characters really demonstrate what it means for true love to last forever. Cornwall is the perfect setting and the timeslip nature of the novel draws you in and keeps you guessing until the end. I know readers will fall head over heels in the same way I have.”
Adams revealed she "was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm shown for the manuscript" and that she looks forward to "being part of such a successful team".
