The Ulverscroft Group has acquired audiobooks company Oakhill Publishing.
Established by Julian Batson in 2005, Oakhill is based in Bath and offers a large selection of audiobooks, ranging from historical fiction to crime thrillers and non-fiction. However, Batson said he now wanted to take a step back so that the company could “continue to grow”.
Ulverscroft is a publisher of large print and unabridged audio books, which releases 26 audio titles each month under the Isis Audio, Soundings and Story Sound imprints.
The Leicester-based company will continue to publish adult and children’s audiobooks under the Oakhill imprint and with a catalogue of previous titles available to libraries.
Oakhill director Batson, who has been involved with audiobooks since 1981, said: “It’s time for me to take life a little easier and the sale of Ulverscroft will ensure that Oakhill is in good hands and will continue to grow under its new owners.”
Ulverscroft m.d., Michele Petty, said: “Ulverscroft is delighted with the acquisition of Oakhill Publishing, its title range complements the audiobooks already published within the group and we are looking forward to spreading the joy of these audiobooks to libraries and their users all over the world.”
