Unbound has launched a pre-order campaign for the complete scripts and official companion to lockdown hit TV series “Staged” with David Tennant and Michael Sheen.
Filmed using video-conferencing technology in 14 quarter-hour segments, the series follows the two thespians playing fictionalised versions of themselves as they try to rehearse a play during lockdown. The rehearsals go completely awry as the frustrations of working remotely and the psychological impact of the ongoing crisis bleed into their everyday lives.
John Mitchinson, publisher and co-founder of Unbound, said: “Anyone who has had their lockdown experience cheered up by 'Staged' will know that the stellar quality of the central performances is matched by the wit and precision of the writing. This book will be the perfect souvenir and companion — with some amazing and exclusive reward levels on offer. We’re beyond thrilled that the production team has trusted us to bring this wonderful object to the widest possible audience.”
Due for publication on 16th September 2021, Completely Staged contains the complete text of the screenplays from writer and director Simon Evans and co-creator Phin Glynn. With a foreword from Gyles Brandreth, the hardback features more than 100 images, many never before seen, from photographs, screenshots and illustrations, to pages from the musical score and tips on how to draw a pineapple, David Tennant-style - along with Evans’ exclusive director’s notes.
Evans said: “'Staged' owes so much to so many people, but once upon a time it was just me staring at a blank piece of paper. I'm over the moon that I got to fill those blank pages, and that we can share them together here. It's been a strange, wonderful and unexpected experience, and I'm so proud to have this as a record of every word.”
A range of reward levels are available on Unbound.com, including T-shirts bearing catchphrases from the show, a limited edition, deluxe slip cased hardback, hand-numbered and signed by the cast and creators, and space for up to three people to join a one-hour acting masterclass with Evans. The book has been compiled and edited by co-producer Victor Glynn and Sophie Goldsworthy.
