The conference devoted to university press issues, University Press Redux, is returning as an in-person event in May 2024, held at the University of Edinburgh, by the Association of Learned & Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) in partnership with Edinburgh University Press (EUP). The event will form part of EUP’s 75th birthday celebrations.
This will be the fifth Redux conference, and the first to return to being an in-person event since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. The previous event, held in 2022 in partnership with Cambridge University Press, was virtual only.
The event’s theme next year will be "connecting people and ideas", looking at the shared mission of University Presses to educate, enlighten and inspire, and at sharing knowledge and experiences within the UP community. Amina Shah of the National Library of Scotland will open the conference by presenting on the role of libraries in connecting people and ideas.
EUP chief executive Nicola Ramsey said: “I am delighted to be working in partnership with ALPSP to deliver what I think will be an exciting, thought-provoking and inspirational conference. Hosting it in Edinburgh in EUP’s 75th anniversary year seems especially apt, and I’m looking forward to the opportunities for learning, sharing and collaboration that will come from bringing our university press community together in person.”
