The longlist for the McIlvanney Prize has been announced today by Bloody Scotland.
The award, previously known as the Bloody Scotland Prize for Scottish Crime Writing, will be presented on Friday 13th September on the first night of the Bloody Scotland Festival.
This year’s longlist features Doug Sinclair, who is also on the shortlist for the Bloody Scotland Debut Prize. It also features two previous winners, Chris Brookmyre and Charles Cumming.
Established former longlistees like Val McDermid will battle with first-time longlistees including Abir Mukherjee and Kim Sherwood.
This year’s prize will be judged by BBC Scotland presenter, Bryan Burnett, crime writing manager for Waterstones, Angie Crawford, and journalist and editor, Arusa Qureshi.
The 2024 longlist is selected by a booksellers, librarians, bloggers and broadcasters.
